Student Affairs Evaluation, Assessment & Training
What is the purpose of Student Affairs Evaluation, Assessment, and Training?
WVU Student Affairs professionals see themselves as educators, and each is dedicated to student learning, development, and satisfaction. Therefore, in August 2004, the division began its commitment to provide support to each of its units in their efforts to assess learning and effectiveness of its services. The division intends to collect, analyze, and provide evidence for continuous enhancement of student learning and services provided. Proper assessment will yield information that will allow the Vice President to make critical decisions on the efficiency, effectiveness, and appropriateness of student affairs programs and services.
Remember, WVU Students are our #1 priority!
Why is WVU Student Affairs committed to assessment?
- We are educators who care about student learning and improving that learning.
- We know we are doing a good job; now we want to show it.
- Consumers demand accountability, and through assessment we can produce our successes.
- Government support is declining, resulting in greater demand for scarce resources.
- Grants demand assessment data.
- Assessment results can be embedded in accreditation reports and strategic plans.
- Stakeholders, students, and colleagues will have greater confidence in our work by understanding our results.
