Greek Odyssey

During the spring semester, students will be enrolled in the Humanities for Greece course. As part of the course, students will travel to Greece during the week of spring break, where they will explore the beautiful cities of Athens, Kalambaka, Delphi, Olympia, Nauplia, with additional sightseeing in Meteora and Epidauraus! Click here to see a more detailed itinerary.

Listed below are several excursions that will be included in the trip:

Greek Show
Your 20 minute coach drive takes you to an authentic Greek night club, situated in Pireaus. This nightspot provides excellent food and service, with non stop entertainment including traditional dances in costumes (you will be invited to join in!), live orchestra, and singers. The show finishes at 11:30 p.m.

Aegean Cruise
Visit three Greek islands and enjoy lunch on board your modern cruise ship with sundecks, bars, and a shop. Visit the Saronic islands of Aegina, the largest Poros and Hydra. On Hydra there are no cars, the only means of transportation is by donkey.

Cape Sounion
Leave Athens, following the beautiful coastal road past the Athenians’ favorite summer resorts to Cape Sounion. Visit the famous Temple of Poseidon, god of the sea. From the summit you’ll enjoy a wonderful view of the Saronic Islands.

A Taste Of Athens
First travel by coach into the centre of Athens and pick up the “train” which will take you at a leisurely pace for about 20 minutes around the old part of Athens, the “Plaka” – a good way to get a first impression of the layout, shops and points of interest. Re-board your coach to continue to a Taverna for a Greek feast with unlimited local wine. On the way back to the hotel view the illuminated Acropolis.

A non-refundable $500 deposit will be accepted beginning September 2009, on a first-come, first served basis. The approximate cost for the trip is $2,500, which includes overnight accommodations, breakfast, transportation, excursions, event tickets, tour guides, and meals listed above. Keep in mind that financial aid resources are available – generally, students can earn up to $1,000 in scholarship money.

The trip will depart on Friday March 26, 2010 and return on Sunday April 4, 2010.
