Summer Internship in London

The West Virginia University London Summer Internship Program, planned for the month of July 2009, will be open to approximately 20-25 interns and is available to all WVU students at a cost of $5,000. All interested students must submit a completed application form (see below) on or before Friday, January 16, 2009. The purpose of the internship is to provide students with an international, professional experience associated with their major and all students successfully completing the internship will receive 5 internship credit hours.


Included in program cost:
  • Round trip airfare
  • 4 weeks accommodations for students, in apartments located in or around the Bayswater, Marble Arch, Earls Court or Islington areas of Central London – all in Zone 1 or 2 on the London transport network. Students will be housed in twin and triple rooms.
  • Arrangement and supervision of an internship placement
  • 4 weeks travel cards, zones 1 and 2 only, for both faculty and students
  • Hop on hop off passes, valid for 24 hours from the first point of use, for all members of the group
  • 4 day classroom sessions per week, for the duration of the program
  • Orientation program to include a welcome meal, guided tour of the British Museum, and orientation session with Anglo American Educational Services
  • Airport transfers for the group
  • Short excursion to Paris via the Chunnel
  • Guided day trip to Oxford or Cambridge
  • Day trip to Dover and Canterbury Cathedral
  • 4 group dinners
  • Health insurance
Not included in cost:
  • Meals
  • $50 per credit hour study abroad fee to be billed directly to student by the WVU Office of Student Accounts

Mon., June 30: Orientation and locate internship placement job site

Fri., July 4: Trip to Hampton Court

Sat., July 5: Tour of Oxford, including Christ Church College and traditional English teatime at Brown’s Cafe

Sun., July 6: British Museum

Mon-Thurs, July 7-July-10: On-site at internship placement (second theater trip sometime this week)

Fri., July 11: Windsor Castle trip

Sat., July 12: Dover Castle and Canterbury Cathedral

Sun., July 13: Free day

Fri., July 18: Tower of London Tour

Sat., July 19: Channel Tunnel trip to Paris!

Sun., July 20: Free day

Mon.-Thurs., July 21-July 24: On-site at internship placement

Fri., July 25: Farewell dinner
