Summer Study Abroad at Oxford
Spend the summer living and learning at the most prestigious university in the world! This August, the Office of Student Affairs, Office of International Programs, and the Department of English are sponsoring a once in a lifetime trip to study at Brasenose College at the University of Oxford.
The College of Brasenose was founded on June, 19 in 1509, originally for the study of sophistry, philosophy, logic, and theology by Sir Richard Sutton and William Smith, Bishop of Lincoln. Since its inception, Brasnose College has cultivated the minds of famous scholars, politicians, authors, and entertainers. Today, as one of the oldest colleges of Oxford, Brasenose College still exemplifies the utmost in academics. This is your opportunity to study in the footsteps of William Golding, Arthur Evans, and John Gorton!
Academics
The unique curriculum, developed by Dr. David Stewart, Dr. Pat Conner, and Dr. John Lamb, will take you outside the classroom
and into the English countryside. After reading great literary works in class, you will experience these writings by traveling and following in the footsteps of the poets and authors.
Over the summer, you will earn a total of 6 credit hours, divided between a course for English credit and out-of-class work, such as keeping a journal. Classes will be from 9:00am to 12 noon Monday through Thursday, with afternoon and weekend excursions.
University Life
Situated in the heart of the university in Radcliffe Square, Brasenose College is at the center of student life at Oxford. You will be able to relax on the green in the square, get a drink at a local
pub, or explore the shelves at Blackwells Bookstore, a famous Oxford institution.
Accommodations will be at Brasenose college, which will give you the perfect opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Oxford University life!
